4x05 The Hot Potato Job

[Marigold Farm]

(a goon is digging in the dirt outside of the house when Emily comes out and runs toward them)

Emily: Hey! Who are you?! What are you doing?

Goon: You have something that belongs to us, Emily Margold.

Emily: I'm gonna call the cops.

(she turns to go back to the house but runs into another goon)

Emily: Leave me alone.

(Emily’s dad jumps off a tractor and runs over)

Dad: Hey! Get away from her!

(Goon #2 punches Emily’s dad in the ribs and he falls to the ground. Emily bends to check on him)

Emily: Dad! Are you all right?

(the two goons get in an SUV and Emily pulls her dad to safety as they drive away)

[McRory’s Pub]

Emily: Fractured ribs, punctured lung. They could have killed him.

Sophie: Well, you called the police?

Emily: We couldn't identify the men. We didn't get a license plate. Not much a small-town sheriff can do.

Nate: But someone's been calling you.

Emily: A big shot from Verd Agra Corporation called us last month. I turned him down.

Sophie: They tried to buy the farm?

Emily: No. (pulls out a lunchbox) Something a lot more valuable. (opens lunchbox and pulls out a potato)

Nate: A potato.

Emily: Every year, half a million kids go blind because they don't have enough Vitamin A. So, I developed a potato that has extra nutrients inside. I'm a crop sciences major. It's my thesis project. The super tuber.

Sophie: So, well, you created something extraordinary. Why not sell and take the payoff?

Emily: There are families that are living on less than a dollar a day. I can't take their money. I'm giving away the potato for free, so that they can grow it themselves.

Nate: Wow. An open-source potato. So, clearly, you're threatening Verd Agra's bottom line.

Emily: I got another call this morning. Same big shot, same offer. He pretended he had no idea what happened to my dad. I told him he couldn't scare me into selling. But, Mr. Ford, I am scared.

Nate: Don't be. We're gonna take care of this. We're gonna take care of you.

Emily: Thank you. Thanks, guys.

(Emily leaves the pub. Sophie stands up and gathers her things)

Nate: What are you doing? Where are you going?

Sophie: Oh, I'm starving. All that talk about tubers.

Nate: Let's, uh, let's get dinner.

Sophie: Huh?

Nate: Oh, no, no. I'm not, no. I'm not saying, like, dinner like that, no. Just like a bite to eat, kind of...

Sophie: As colleagues.

Nate: As friends.

Sophie: Oh. A civilized working meal.

Nate: Yeah, as friends.

Sophie: Oh. You said that part.

(Nate and Sophie leave the pub together)

[Leverage HQ]

(Sophie comes down the stairs, which is littered with her bra and his shirt)

Nate: Oh, damn. (sits up) Oh.

Sophie: Nate. (hands him his shirt) We were being spontaneous, living in the moment.

Nate: Yeah. Yeah, it was, uh, it was a mistake, yeah.

Sophie: It's called… San Lorenzo.

Nate: Is that what they call it? (puts on shirt) Um, Sophie, I, um…

Sophie: Mm?

Nate: I'm sorry. But you know that I don't want a relationship. I really, I-I-I--

Sophie: Of course you don't. Well, the work's the most important thing. (moves to sit at the counter) I mean, the team's perfect the way it is. Why change?

Nate: E-exactly what I was gonna say. Yeah.

Sophie: Hey, we're adults. We enjoy each other's company. You know, we don't have to turn this into a big thing. We're friends with... extras. There's nothing wrong with that.

(Nate seems a little thrown)

Sophie: What'd I say?

Nate: Hmm?

(Hardison, Eliot and Parker enter the apartment)

Hardison: Her potato is better than a flintstone vitamin. And it can take anything that nature has to throw down, drought, disease, bugs. Think that happens naturally? No. Emily, she's a hacker. She's a certified, stone-cold plant hacker. Computer hacking? Bio-hacking, that's the future.

Sophie (sees her bra on the stairs): And Verd Agra is going after that poor girl in--(motions to Nate) in plain sight.

Nate (sees bra): Oh, no. (goes to stand in front of the stairs)

Hardison: Oh, yeah. The super tuber's no joke. Yields, water requirements, viral resistance. That's a normal spud. (shows graph on monitors) Super tuber. (shows graph with much different numbers)

Nate: So, it's sort of like the best-ever potato on the market.

Eliot: U.S. potato crop's worth more than $3.5 billion a year.

Parker: How do you know that?

Eliot: It's crops. I'm from the heartland.

(Nate tries to pick up the bra and drops it to the ground)

Sophie: So, this super tuber's worth more than, say, diamonds.

Parker: Oh, come on, guys. A potato?

(Parker gasps and makes motions with her hands)

Hardison: Is that, is that a bug? No, Parker, there's, there's no bugs. No one's listening.

Parker: Yeah, I-I-I got it.

(Nate picks up the bra with his foot and puts it in his back pocket)

Parker: I get it. They want the "potato."

Eliot: I've heard of Verd Agra. They spend more money on security than most countries. They hire guys like me.

Nate: Yeah, so they, they got muscle. Tell me about their suits.

Hardison (puts pictures up on the monitors): Him, right there, that's Colin Saunders, record-long tenure as C.E.O. This man is super power-hungry and super paranoid. He's very good at staying at the top. And acquisitions are his favorite part of the biz. Jana West, his number two. She's chief of operations. Ambitious, cutthroat. See, Saunders calls the shots. He sends Jana to do the dirty work.

(Nate’s phone rings, he gets it from his jacket, which is on Sophie’s chair)

Nate: Oh, that's, uh, no. Oh. It, it's okay.

Sophie: His jacket...

Nate (answers phone): Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Sophie: ...On my chair.

Nate: Yeah? Okay. I want you to stall them. Do whatever it takes to, uh, t-to buy us some time until we can get there. Okay? (hangs up) All right, Verd Agra is back.

Eliot: And they're bringing more muscle?

Nate: (puts on jacket) Worse. Lawyers.

[Marigold Farm]

(Emily follows Jana out of the house)

Emily: This is private property. Get off our land!

Jana: Or you'll what? Call the police? (holds up seedling) This is grown from Verd Agra seeds. We own all intellectual rights to this genetically engineered crop. You violated our copyright.

Emily: We don't use your seeds.

Jana: Are you willing to bet your farm? I can take you for everything you're worth.

(Goon comes out of the house and Jana nods to him. One of the goons holds a case and opens it while the other puts the potato inside)

Jana: A pleasure, Miss Margold.

(Jana and her goons get into an SUV and drive away. Some time later, the team stands near a picnic table Emily is sitting at)

Nate: When did they leave?

Emily: 10 minutes ago.

Eliot: If you let that stuff get back to the facility, it's gonna be like breaking in to Fort Knox. We got to move.

Sophie, Hardison, take the back roads and cut them off.

Hardison: How?

Nate: Just get creative. We'll come up from behind and bottle them up. Let's go.

(everyone heads for the cars)

Eliot: Go inside and lock the door.

(the van goes one way, the car another)

[Country Road]

(Hardison stops the van and looks at a trailer half loaded with hay)

Sophie: Well, he said, "get creative."

Hardison: Hide Lucille.

(Hardison gets out and Sophie moves into the driver’s seat. A few minutes later there are hay bales strewn across the road and Hardison is using a pitchfork to clean it up)

Goon: Uh-oh.

(Jana and her men get out of the SUV and approach Hardison, who is dancing with a set of earphones in as he hums to himself, until he sees Jana and the goons)

Hardison: Oh. Hey. Could use a little help, neighbor. Had myself a snafu. Or you could just stand there like bourgie city folk, coldhearted, unhelpful.

(Jana motions to one of the goons and gestures toward the nearest bale of hay)

Jana: Get this. (approaches Hardison) You don't look like a farmer.

Hardison: Excuse you? Miss city and sadiddy? Ain't you heard of the urban farming revolution? See, look here. Big business calls food a hormone sandwich with a side of pesticide fries. I'm trying to bring it back. Real chicken. You probably eat just an old butter nugget.

Sophie (hiding in woods): Oh, Hardison.

[Interior Car]

Nate: Remember Laos. You and agriculture do not mix.

Eliot: I keep telling him he can't fake country.

Parker: I think they're buying it.

Sophie: Parker, it's not working.

Nate: Sophie, what are you doing?

[Country Road]

Sophie (walks out of woods): I'm living in the moment.

Hardison: What... what... What?

(Sophie taps Hardison on the shoulder. When he turns around, she punches him in the face, knocking him to the ground)

Sophie: Whew! (shakes out her hand)

Nate: Sophie, Hardison, what’s happening?

Jana: Who are you? Where the hell did you come from?

Sophie: Miranda Kaley. Security consultant. I'm here to secure the product. I've been covering you since the farm.

Jana: Kaley? I wasn't briefed about you.

Sophie: It's above your pay grade, ma'am. Board of directors sent me. You weren't supposed to stop. Our position is compromised. My car's a burn. I'll have to ride with you.

Jana: What about him?

Sophie: He's just a diversion, but there is an assault team on its way to you now. We can stand here and discuss it and just wait for them, or we can discuss this at Verd Agra when the product is secure.

(Jana nods and Sophie gets into the SUV with Jana and her men and they drive away. A few minutes later, Nate and the others pull up. Hardison rouses, getting to his feet as the others get out of the car and join him)

Eliot: She popped you, huh? I been teaching her a couple things.

Hardison: Naw, man, I had to help her out. I had to really sell it.

Eliot: You know...

Nate: All right, Sophie, calling audibles? Hope this works out for you. They're headed back to Verd Agra headquarters. Let's go. I hope Sophie tells us what game she's running.

Eliot: She got you, man. You got a little blood right there.

Hardison: Yeah, she's got a right hook like a freight train.

Eliot: She put her hips into it like that?

Hardison: I'm pretty sure she did.

Eliot: That's my girl, man!

Hardison: Stop. Don't teach people how to do that.

[Exterior Verd Agra]

(Nate and Hardison park in the lot)

Nate: Eliot, you said once they get to headquarters, the potato is lost?

Eliot: We got a man on the inside. That changes everything.

(Eliot watches Sophie exit the SUV and enter the building with Jana and her men)

[Interior Van]

(Nate and Parker join Hardison inside the van)

Hardison: That Sophie sure thinks fast. She sent me Jana's cell phone number, so now we control her calls.

[Flashback]

(Jana and Sophie approach the SUV)

Sophie: After you.

(Sophie picks Jana’s pocket and takes her cell phone as she gets into the car. Later she drops it on the floor and nudges it across the SUV. Jana sees the phone and puts it back in her pocket)

[Interior Van]

Nate: Isn't anyone mad at Sophie? Hardison, she punched you in the face.

Hardison: Takes a real man to take one for the team.

[Exterior Verd Agra]

Eliot: Hey, whatever you need to keep telling yourself.

[Interior Van]

Nate: Sophie said she was a security consultant. We need to build her a profile. They're gonna be checking her credentials any second.

[Verd Agra Lobby]

(Jana places the case on the security counter and takes a visitor pass. She turns and looks at Sophie)

Jana: Wait there. (to goon) Make sure she is who she claims to be.

(Goon takes an iPad and begins to search for information on Sophie’s alias)

[Interior Van]

Hardison: Well, I had the perfect cover story. (pulls up information on computer) So, security consultant/spy/corporate espionage. Thing is, it was made for Eliot.

[Exterior Verd Agra]

Eliot: It's all hers.

[Interior Van]

Hardison: One Eliot/Sophie coming up.

[Verd Agra Lobby]

Sophie: Miranda Kaley. Valerian Security. K-a-l-e-y.

[Interior Van]

Hardison: E-y? You're killing me here.

(Hardison switches photos on the information and makes more changes)

Parker: Ah! Looks great.

Hardison: I'm not done yet. It's a lot of little details.

[Verd Agra Lobby]

Goon: Found her.

(the information on the iPad states that Sophie is male. Goon turns to look at Sophie)

[Interior Van]

Hardison: "Male"? Aw, crap. (makes changes)

[Verd Agra Lobby]

(Goon looks back down at iPad and the information now reads ‘female’)

Goon: She's clean.

(Goon hands iPad to Jana who looks at it, then makes a call)

[Interior Van Lobby]

Hardison: She's calling the board.

(Nate answers the phone)

Nate: Yeah? Of course, we can neither confirm nor deny our relationship with Ms. Kaley.

[Verd Agra]

Nate: That would be a matter for C.E.O. Saunders.

Jana: You've been most helpful.

(Jana hangs up and motions for Sophie to follow her)

[Interior Van]

Nate: Ah, we can't oversell this. I mean, a real board member would never discuss such a thing with an underling, so now we wait.

Parker: I really like Eliot/Sophie. Could you do, um, Nate/Me? No! Nate/you!

Hardison: Shh, shh. Pl-please stop. Please stop.

(security feed of Verd Agra shows on the monitor)

Parker: Wait, where are they taking her?

Hardison: Nowhere good.

[Security Holding Room]

(guards usher Sophie inside and close the door. A few minutes later Sophie sits at a table with Jana across from her and two men standing against the wall)

Jana: I have a tough time believing Saunders didn't tell me about you.

Sophie: Believe me, he doesn't know. The board of directors hired me, told me to apprise C.E.O. Saunders directly. You're tough, don't convince easily. I like that. I'm not blind. You're the leader in the trenches. (looks at the men) These men respect you.

Jana: Till I make a mistake.

Sophie: And then they tear you down. It's not easy being a woman with vision.

[Exterior Verd Agra]

Eliot: What's that voice? Is she doing me?

[Security Holding Room]

Sophie: Look, I know you acquired a potato from the Margold family. It'll increase your yield by 42%. It'll reduce your irrigation needs by a third.

Jana: Who told you that?

Sophie: The board. They hired me because you have a security breach, and they don't know who to trust. Ma'am, you got a mole.

[Interior Van]

Nate: She's running a Romanian circus. You turn the mark's suspicions against his own people so he's vulnerable to outside attack. You fake an internal enemy.

[Security Holding Room]

Sophie: Now, it could be you. (looks at men) It could him or him. It could be anyone.

[Exterior Verd Agra]

Eliot: What is she, wh-what is she pausing...?

[Security Holding Room]

Sophie: Give me 12 hours, ma'am. I'll find him.

(Jana slides the security badge across the table)

[Interior Van]

Nate: What she's doing here is she's running a variant. It's called the snipe hunt. It's the circus, but it's leaner and faster. Yeah, yeah.

Parker: Hmm.

Jana: C.E.O. Saunders wants to see you.

[Saunders’ Office]

Saunders: April 6, 1994, I, uh, became C.E.O. Ever since I reached the top, people have been trying to take things from me. I mean, we barely get our hands on our newest acquisition, and a mole wants to take it away.

Sophie: Regrettable, sir.

Saunders: Yes, it is. It's very regrettable. We did that girl a favor. Now, she doesn't have the resources to get her discovery out there. We're, we're on every continent. We reach millions of people's lives. In return, we deserve a healthy cut.

Sophie: Sir, is the product secure?

Saunders: It's in our burn room. I'm the only one with access.

[Interior Van]

Nate: Burn room?

[Exterior Verd Agra]

(Hardison walks toward the building with his arms full of packages)

Hardison: It's usually a vault within a vault. The walls are lined with thermite. All he has to do is press a button, and flame on. All his dirty secrets burn away.

[Interior Van]

Parker: Everything burns? I want one.

(Nate and Parker exit the van)

Nate: We need to get that potato out of that burn room.

[Saunders’ Office]

Sophie: I'll find you your mole, Mr. Saunders. First thing to do, lockdown. No one gets in. No one gets out. We trap him, (shakes his hand) and we and root him out.

[Exterior Verd Agra]

Nate: Guys, we got a slight hitch with the snipe hunt.

Hardison: You tell me this now?

Nate: They always involve a lockdown. Now, the con only works if the crew can infiltrate the mark before the lockdown begins. Gives us about five minutes to get everybody in.

(Hardison trips and drops most of his packages. He begins picking them up as Parker watches from not far away)

Parker: Okay, steady, steady.

(another man begins to help Hardison pick up the packages)

Hardison: Oh, thank you, man. That's, man, that's what I'm talking, that's brother love right there.

Parker: Now move when he moves so he doesn't feel the lift. And, now!

(Hardison tries to grab the man’s badge and misses)

Parker: No! The opposite of that.

Hardison: Ha ha.

Eliot: Hey, we can't all be action heroes.

Hardison: I'll show you an action hero.

(another man begins to help Hardison pick up the packages)

Parker: Uh, nice and easy...

Hardison: Thank you, man. (steals the man’s badge) That's real nice. Appreciate it. (first man puts packages on top) Right on top. Thank you. Thank you. And what? Say something now. (enters building)

Eliot: Yeah. One good lift in three years. Awesome!

Nate: Hardison's in. Next up?

[Saunders’ Office]

Sophie: I told them my assistant's on his way. They're expecting an accountant with excellent credentials.

[Exterior Verd Agra]

Nate: Okay, good, that takes care of me. Who's next?

Sophie: That won't work, Nate. I need Eliot.

[Saunders’ Office]

Sophie: Look, I'm doing my best, but this is a hitter's role. The sooner he gets in, the better. Nate? Are you there?

[Exterior Verd Agra]

Nate: Yeah, I'm here. Uh, that makes perfect sense. Sophie, I just thought you'd get me in.

[Saunders’ Office]

Sophie: You're a mastermind. Figure it out.

[Exterior Verd Agra]

Nate: Okay, Eliot, get to the door. Sophie will do the rest. And Eliot, look the part.

(Eliot tackles a man walking toward the building, pushing him behind some bushes. He steps out a few minutes later dressed in the man’s clothes)

[Verd Agra Lobby]

(on the way in the door, Eliot grabs a jacket from a man walking out and approaches the security desk)

Eliot: Hi.

Guard: Hello.

(Eliot signs in and the guard gives him a pass)

Guard: There you go.

Eliot: Thank you.

(Eliot clips the badge on as he goes through a metal detector and approaches Sophie)

Eliot: There's a lot of ex-military muscle around. ATF, Secret Service. You can tell by their stance. (puts on jacket)

Sophie: Nate, you in? We're out of time.

[Exterior Verd Agra]

Nate: Oh, we're in. Oh, yeah.

(Parker moves up behind him and they both look down at a bus of children that has pulled up in front of the building)

Teacher: Here we go. Come on. Come on, kids. Come on.

Nate: Hello! Hello! Hello! Welcome to Verd Agra. Yes, my name is Mike Biltz. This is Jen Hedborn. We are your educational coordinators here at Verd Agra. Welcome, kids. Hi.

Parker: Welcome!

Kids: Hi! Hi!

Nate: Yes. Well, I.D. And roster?

Teacher: Oh. (hands clip board and ID to Nate)

Nate: Thank you.

Teacher: Um, here.

Nate: Terrific.

Parker: Terrific.

Nate: Okay. We will see you at 5:00 P.M. sharp.

Teacher: But, wait, I thought I had to chaperone.

Nate: Oh, yeah. No. We, we do this tour every day of the year.

Parker: Oh, yeah, I mean, you're welcome to come, but I say a hardworking educator like yourself deserves a break.

Nate: Absolutely.

Teacher: Oh, thanks. I'll see you at 5:00.

Nate: Okay. Okay.

Parker: Okay. Go get a mani/pedi.

Nate: You know, we, we just don't pay them enough.

Parker: No.

Nate: We--we don't. Okay. Are we ready to go in?

Kids: Yes.

Parker: Okay.

Nate: Come on, come on. Come on, come along.

Parker: Okay.

[Verd Agra Lobby]

(Nate leads the kids through the metal detector and a security guard pats him down)

Nate: Yeah? Oh, is this really necessary? We're the Quincy Green Farmers Club.

Guard: Standard procedure for all adults.

Nate: All right.

(Sophie is searched as well)

Nate: Okay. This way, kids.

Trevor: We don't know you. I'm going back to the bus.

Nate: Uh, no, you're not. Trevor, you listen to me. You try to ditch me again I'm gonna take away your field-trip privileges. Understood?

Guard: Kids.

Nate: All right?

Guard: Give them an inch, right?

Parker: Miles. Just...

Trevor: How do you know my name?

Nate: Oh, because there's lots of checkmarks next to Trevor Dawson. Hmm. Little problem with authority? Yeah? I can relate. Okay. Guys, huddle in. Huddle in. Huddle in. It's okay. Here we go.

(alarm blares and men go running for the doors, locking them)

Nate: Here we go. No one gets in. No one gets out. Lockdown. Okay. Um, oh.come this way.

(Trevor gets a text message on his phone)

Nate: You're too young for a phone.

Trevor: It's for if I get abducted.

Nate: Yeah, whatever. Okay, so, one of the things that makes, uh, Verd Agra so special is its security. (looks at posted floorplan) Yeah. Right now, we're in the public area. But all the exciting stuff happens on the top floor. Now, you see how it looks like a bull's-eye? You have green, yellow, and red security zones. Red for top secret.

Parker: So, teacher Mike, what if I want to go to the red zone?

Nate: Well, no, teacher Jen. No can do. We-we-we only have visitor badges.

Parker: But, teacher Mike, what if I take someone else's--

Nate: Find

Parker: --find someone else's badge?

Nate: Well, that's the tricky part. Teacher Jen, you see, the badges are also trackers. Yes, it's like Lojack for people. So, what happens is, is that the scary security system will know wherever you go. Yep.

(Parker looks around at various badges)

Parker: So, we have to fool the security system to get the banana.

Nate: Potato.

Parker: Whatever.

[Saunders’ Office]

Security: Sir, Miss Kaley and her accountant for you.

Sophie: My associate Tom Boonen. He's a forensic accountant.

Eliot: Numbers don't lie...

(Sophie looks at Eliot and he clears his throat)

Eliot (higher voice): Excuse me. Numbers don't lie. I won't let 'em.

Sophie: Mnh-mnh. We've trapped the mole, Mr. Saunders. Now we need access to anyone we red-flag as suspicious, like your head of I.T.

[IT Control Room]

(the guard leads a man out of an office and toward an elevator)

Guard: We've got the head of I.T. We're on our way.

(Hardison uses a badge to get into the IT control room)

Hardison: Best room in the house.

[Class Room]

(the children are seated around tables as Parker puts a movie on)

Nate: Okay, great, Sophie, but enough with the audibles. I've done this much tons of times.

[Hallway]

Sophie: So, suddenly, you don't like it. I wonder why.

[Class Room]

Nate: Okay, listen. We got to focus. We got a job to do, okay?

[Hallway]

Sophie: Oh, how convenient.

[Class Room]

Parker: That should keep them busy.

Nate: Okay, kids, good movie, right here.

Narrator (on TV): Verd agra, growing around you. Growing with you.

Nate: All right?

Narrator (on TV): We here at Verd Agra are committed...

Trevor: This is boring.

Nate: Oh, it gets better. Now, they're keeping the potato inside the burn room. That's their highest security vault, must be inside the red zone.

(Parker grabs a jacket from a woman seated at a table)

[IT Control Room]

Hardison: But the system will tag anyone who runs straight for the bull's-eye.

[Class Room]

Nate: Well, not if we look like more than one person.

Parker: Sophie getting me a badge?

Nate: She's getting you three.

Parker: Okay.

[IT Control Room]

(Hardison pulls up information on the computer)

[Hallway]

Hardison: All right, Sophie, Eliot, call in Amy Danna, Sarah Perez, and Matt McFadden.

(Eliot looks at a name plate on a door that reads Matt McFadden and knocks. Elsewhere, Jana leads Sophie down a hallway. Parker passes them and pours a cup of coffee)

Jana: This way.

[Security Holding Room]

Jana: You're questioning a botanist, an accountant, and the in-house masseuse?

Sophie: Yes. Yes, I am. (looks at notepad)

Hardison: Sorry. We should, we should have given you more heads up.

Sophie: The three of them are having quite the affair. He fathered children with both these women. The paternity expenses? Enormous! Motive to betray your company for the right price. (whispers) Damn it, Hardison!

[IT Control Room]

Hardison: How do you come up with this stuff?

[Security Holding Room]

Sophie: I played a nurse on the 10th season of "The Vixen and the Knave."

[Hallway]

(Parker passes out coffee to Amy, Sarah and Matt as she takes their badges)

Woman: Thank you.

Man: Thanks.

Woman: Thank you.

[IT Control Room]

Nate: Okay, Parker. You're on. Go to the top.

[Elevator]

(Parker uses one of the badges to get access to the elevator)

Hardison: Hey, Parker, y-you remembered the foil, right?

[Flashback]

Parker: Sophie getting me a badge?

Nate: She's getting you three.

(Nate hands Parker a roll of tin foil)

Hardison: The system, it tracks an RFID tag in the badges. The foil creates a crude Faraday cage. It blocks the signal.

(Parker folds each badge in tin foil)

[Hallway]

(Parker steps off the elevator)

Parker: Top floor, green zone.

Nate: Now, make sure after you use the badge, you get rid of it.

Parker (tosses one of the badges): I feel like a new person already.

[IT Control Room]

Hardison (watching monitor): Yeah, we see you, Parker. Now make your way to the center of the tootsie pop.

[Hallway]

(Parker moves down a hallway to a door)

Parker: There's a keypad.

[IT Control Room]

Hardison: Oh, it's a Glen-Reeder, which means a four-digit pin. 90-most percent of people use the same pin over and over. And I have Verd Agra security footage, which means we can see him at the cafeteria ATM.

(Hardison pulls up a video on the monitor)

Nate: Okay, here we go. It's 7-3-5-2.

[Hallway]

Parker (types in code and enters the door): I'm in yellow.

[IT Control Room]

Trevor: Whatcha doing?

Nate: What you doing?

Hardison: You know, I could tranquilize him, just knock him cold out.

Nate: Yeah, why would you do that?

Hardison: He's a kid. He's a loose Cannon.

Nate: No, we'll just have him get in the chair or something.

Hardison: Um, (pulls over a chair) Man, we're, we're playing a game. Come here. You want with it? Come on. Come on in. Park it. Right.

Trevor: Mm.

Hardison: And you know what? (puts his hat on Trevor) Boom. Now you're one of us.

Nate: All right. Come on. Trevor? Shh.

[Yellow Hallway]

Parker: Trevor!

Nate: Okay, Parker, talk to me.

Parker (looks around corner at door): We've got a guard, the kind that doesn't move around, and a dual manual lock.

[IT Control Room]

Nate: As in actual, physical key?

[Yellow Hallway]

Parker: As in two keys.

Hardison: Oh, that's way too old-school. Can't expect me to hack that.

[IT Control Room]

Nate: Well, yeah, but on the other hand, you know, sometimes old-school really is the best security. I mean, you know, you're…

Hardison (to Trevor): No, it's not.

Nate: What?

Hardison: Nothing.

Nate: Yeah?

Hardison: I'm listening. (to Trevor) He's old.

Nate: Does, does the guard have an actual key?

[Yellow Hallway]

(looks at the guard’s belt where a key is hanging)

Parker: Yeah.

[IT Control Room]

Nate: He uses the key when someone shows up with the right clearance. Now, if we get you another key, you're in.

Hardison: Another--another key? Who else is gonna have one?

[Security Holding Room]

Sophie: Eliot, call in the head of security.

[IT Control Room]

Nate: No, no. Eliot, wait. Hold on.

[Hallway]

Nate: Hold on. Hold on, Eliot.

Eliot: Who's calling the play?!

[Yellow Hallway]

Parker: I am.

(looks at McCue who has a key on his belt)

[Hallway]

Eliot: Sweet.

[IT Control Room]

Nate: Scott McCue, head custodian, only guy with universal access. Nicely done, Parker.

Hardison: Y-you got to be kidding me, man. He's gonna notice. He's gonna notice.

[Yellow Hallway]

Parker: Not till after.

[IT Control Room]

Nate: Okay, um, now, Parker, now—

[Yellow Hallway]

Nate: --here's how you're gonna grift him.

(Parker sneezes on McCue. When he looks away, she grabs his card and keys)

[IT Control Room]

Nate: All right. (grabs microphone) Is this thing hooked up?

Hardison: Just press the button.

Nate: Scott McCue.

[Yellow Hallway]

Nate: Scott McCue, please report to security, Scott McCue.

(McCue cleans his glasses and heads down the hallway. Parker peeks out and follows him down the hall)

[Security Holding Room]

(Eliot lets McCue into the room)

Eliot: Have a seat, sit.

Nate: Okay, Sophie, distract him. Make sure he doesn't know his keys are gone.

Sophie: Mr. McCue, how long have you worked here?

[IT Control Room]

Nate: Hardison, help her out.

Hardison (pulls up information): I don't know, man. H-he looks pretty clean. Ridiculously clean.

[Security Holding Room]

Sophie: Would you say you're underpaid?

McCue: Um...

Sophie: Mr. McCue, why do you have a bank account in the Cayman Islands?

Nate: Whoa, whoa, whoa, Sophie. Easy.

[IT Control Room]

Nate: Easy on the flights of fancy.

Hardison (pulls up account information): Uh, actually…

[Security Holding Room]

McCue: I knew you were onto me! When I saw her dead eyes! (points at Jana) The dead eyes!

Jana: You're the mole? You betrayed this company.

McCue: It's true!

[IT Control Room]

Hardison: Wait, so we found a real mole?

Nate: She's good at what she does.

[Security Holding Room]

McCue: Feels good to say it!

Jana: I'm impressed. I'll let Mr. Saunders know we can lift the lockdown. Take him downstairs. Lock him up.

Eliot: Nate...

Nate: Yeah, I know, I know. No lockdown means security protocols resume. They'll catch us in minutes. Oh, boy.

(guards escort McCue from the room. Jana dials a number but Sophie pulls her arm down)

Sophie: He infiltrated this company for more than 10 years. You really think he acted alone?

Jana: He's not the only mole?

Sophie: That's right. Who do you think he's protecting? (sits Jana down) Let me ask you something about Mr. Saunders. Does he listen to you? Really listen?

Jana: He values my contributions.

Sophie: Does he ignore your ideas even when you're obviously right? Does he seem uncomfortable when you're in control, when you're the one calling the shots for once?

[IT Control Room]

Nate: Yeah, it's--

[Security Holding Room]

Sophie: Maybe he doesn't have this company's best interests at heart, hmm? Maybe he's got another agenda.

Jana: This is crazy. You think Saunders is the mole?

Sophie: No one would ever suspect. If we're right about this, you'd be the savior of Verd Agra.

(Jana looks at Eliot, who nods)

Sophie: My advice? Keep the lockdown going. Use this time to gather evidence against him.

Jana (to guard): We need eyes on Saunders. Now.

[Hallway]

(two people see Saunders and walk away. At the other end of the hall, two guards move into sight and stop, talking to each other. Saunders pulls out his phone and dials)

Saunders: Get those security consultants in my office.

[IT Control Room]

Nate: Okay, Hardison.

(Hardison uses the computer to spoof Saunders’ phone)

[Yellow Hallway]

(guard’s phone rings and he answers)

[IT Control Room]

Nate: Uh, yeah, this is the security coordinator. Why are you not picking up?

[Yellow Hallway]

Guard: Uh, I haven't gotten any calls yet.

Nah, don't, don't give me that. You're headed back to the lobby job. Do you want that?

Guard: No, sir.

[IT Control Room]

Hardison: See, what we're doing is maxing out his focus. His brain is so overloaded with "angry boss," he won't remember our faces.

Nate: Hardison, don't teach him that. Hey, listen.

[Yellow Hallway]

(Parker approaches the guard)

Nate: Don't screw this up. There's a VIP on her way up right now.

Guard: Uh, she's here right now, sir.

(Parker shows the guard McCue’s key)

Nate: Well, what are you doing? Let her in! Do your job, man!

[IT Control Room]

(Nate hangs up the phone)

[Yellow Hallway]

(the guard puts his phone away and turns to the door. Parker runs a badge through the security scanner)

[IT Control Room]

Hardison: You need somebody to listen, I'm here. Always here. I'm reaching out.

[Yellow Hallway]

(Parker enters the red hallway)

[IT Control Room]

Hardison (watching Parker’s progress on Monitors): Keep going, keep going.

Nate: Listen, Parker. The vault has two chambers. Now, the first room is the seed vault.

[Red Hallway]

(Parker throws another badge away and approaches the vault door)

Nate: There's should be a keypad in the back of the vault, will take you to the burn room. That's where Emily's potato is.

(Parker turns the door lock to open it)

[IT Control Room]

Hardison: I got the blueprints right in front of me right now. I'm gonna talk you through it first.

[Red Hallway]

(the door opens to reveal a freezer)

Parker: I'm already in.

[IT Control Room]

Hardison: What? What? No, no, no, Parker! The seed vault is kept beyond freezing. It's negative-20 degrees Celsius in there.

[Seed Vault]

(Parker begins to walk across the room)

Hardison: Y-y-you got about a minute before your core temperature drops, before exposed skin gets permanent frostbite. Parker! Do you hear me? What are you doing? Parker!

(Parker keeps walking across the room, pulling her jacket closer and rubbing her hands. She slips on the floor but catches her balance and continues on)

Parker: I'm at the k-k-keypad.

[IT Control Room]

Hardison: Wh-- Parker, what are--Listen to me! You could lose your hands.

[Seed Vault]

(Parker breathes on the keypad to reveal fingerprints)

Parker: Okay, I can see the last four numbers keyed in. 0-4-6-9.

[IT Control Room]

Hardison: Numbers. Four digits. Th-th-that means 24 possible permutations.

Nate: No, no, a-all she needs is the right order.

[Seed Vault]

Parker (pushing pad): I'm trying them all.

Hardison: No, Parker, you have 10 seconds!

[IT Control Room]

Hardison: Get out!

Nate: Parker, Parker, listen to me. Listen to me. The code you have isn't four digits. It's longer. Some of those numbers must repeat.

Hardison: Wait, no. No, wait. What is it, five digits, six digits? What is it?

[Seed Vault]

Hardison: There's too many possibilities.

Nate: Saunders said only he had access, so it's not random. It's, um, it's month, day, year. Six digits. Um, um. It's a date!

[Flashback]

Saunders: April 6, 1994, I became C.E.O.

[IT Control Room]

Okay Parker, listen. 0-4-0-6-9-4. April 6, 1994—

[Seed Vault]

Nate: is the C.E.O.'S start date.

(Parker plugs in the number and the inner vault opens)

Parker: Why aren't lasers warmer?

[Saunders’ Office]

(guards lead Eliot and Sophie into the room)

Saunders: Who are you working for, the board? They've wanted me out for years.

Sophie: I can assure you, Mr. Saunders--

Saunders: I can smell disloyalty. (walks closer) The board hired you to dig dirt up on me? I have enemies. I know I do. I bet they have confederates planting evidence. Search for others.

[IT Control Room]

(Nate and Hardison head for the door, Hardison grabbing Trevor)

Nate: Parker, we're blown.

[Inner Vault]

(Parker is dancing her way through the lasers)

Parker: Almost there.

[Saunders’ Office]

(alarms sound)

Guard: Sir, there's an intruder in the vault. The system says the intruder is you.

[Flashback]

Sophie (shakes Saunders’ hand): We trap him and we root him out.

(Sophie grabs his security badge. Later in the hallway, Sophie passes off the badge to Parker. In the vault, Parker unwraps the badge and tosses it on some cases)

Jana: This way.

[Saunders’ Office]

Saunders: I'm being set up. I'll see that evidence burn before it brings me down. Take them.

Sophie: Oh, please. Really? Your guys are so hopeless, my accountant could take them.

(Eliot takes off his jacket and lets it fall to the floor. He hits one guard in the neck, then hits a second in the face and the crotch. Both men fall to the floor as the third guard approaches. Eliot blocks a punch and hits the guard in the face, knocking him down. Eliot turns and kicks the second guard in the face, knocking him out. Saunders goes to his desk and opens a drawer)

[IT Control Room]

Nate: Don't let him hit the burn-room switch. Parker's still in there.

[Saunders’ Office]

(Eliot pushes up his glasses and turns toward Saunders, but it is too late, Saunders hits the burn switch)

Sophie: Parker, get out now.

[Vault]

(Parker begins to run, then falls to her knees and slides across the icy floor as the inner vault is filled with fire)

[Verd Agra Lobby]

(Saunders walks down the stairs with one of the guards)

Saunders: I want you to search everyone. When they're out, search their offices. Who's this?

Nate: Oh, we are the Quincy Green Farmers Club, and I'm gonna tell you something, sir. We are writing a stern letter.

Parker: Hey, teacher Mike.

Nate: Why, hello, uh, teacher Jen.

[Flashback]

(Parker dances her way through the lasers toward the center of the vault)

Parker: Almost there.

(Parker continues her dance toward the case and through opening it, and grabs the potato)

Parker: So, the diamond is in the potato?

Hardison: Park--there is no diamond. Verd Agra. Super tuber. Haven't you been listening?

Parker: Not really.

Sophie: Parker, get out now.

(Parker begins to run, then falls to her knees and slides across the icy floor as the inner vault is filled with fire)

[Verd Agra Lobby]

Saunders: I don't care who they are. Search everyone.

Jana: Saunders! (holds up phone) I have the board of directors on the line.

Saunders: What?

Jana: I'll make it easy for you. You're fired.

Saunders: Excuse me?

[Flashback]

Hardison: Huh. That janitor literally cleaned up.

Nate: Okay, get ready to transfer all the dirty money into Saunders' account.

(Hardison pulls up the transfer)

Nate: And… now, Hardison.

Hardison: Done and done.

[Verd Agra Lobby]

Jana: Did you really think that you could sabotage us and get away with it? We saw the money enter your account. You were paid to ignite a roomful of acquisitions.

Saunders: Paid? No! What are you doing?

Security: Come with us, sir.

(two security guards grab Saunders’ arms)

Saunders: No! This is ridiculous! (struggles with the guards) This is absurd! I made this company what it is! I built this company!

(two guards pull Saunders away as two more approach Jana)

Guard: Miss West. Come with us.

Jana: What? Why?

[Flashback]

Nate: Oh, and, uh, uh, make sure the transfer came from Jana.

Hardison (makes adjustment): Nice.

[Verd Agra Lobby]

Jana: Excuse me! Wha--Didn't you hear what I just said?!

(Nate and Parker put their badges on the security counter and walk out. Sophie hands her badge to Eliot and he puts them both on the counter as they head out. Hardison follows them out the door)

[Exterior Verd Agra]

(Parker leads the kids toward the waiting bus)

Teacher: Hey, kids!

Kids: Hi. Hey.

Teacher: Did you guys have fun today?

Kids: Yeah, it was fun. Yeah, we had a lot of fun.

Teacher: All right, everybody. Let's get on the bus.

Parker: See ya. (to Trevor) Hey. Trade you.

(Parker hands Trevor his phone and takes his phone case)

[Flashback]

(Parker is getting ready to slice the potato with a paper cutter)

Nate: Make sure the slice has as many eyes as possible.

Parker: The what?

Nate: Sprouts.

Parker: Hmm. Can't do that with a diamond.

(Parker cuts the potato. Nate takes the slice and slides it into the phone case, then hands the case to Trevor and the phone to Parker. In the lobby, the kids go out the door, Trevor hesitating for only a moment)

Jana: I have the board of directors on the line.

Saunders: What?

Jana: I'll make it easy for you. You're fired.

[Exterior Verd Agra]

(Trevor sees Hardison and runs to him, doing the special handshake before returning to the bus. Parker hands Nate the phone case, he opens it to reveal the slice of potato)

Nate: And the rest of the super tuber?

Parker: Mm-hmm.

[Flashback]

(Parker takes the rest of the potato and puts it in a bin in the kitchen, where it is cut up for fries and eaten by Verd Agra employees)

[Exterior Verd Agra]

(the bus pulls out of the lot)

Kids: Bye! Bye!

Trevor: And then the computer guy made the guard's head explode, and then she was on fire, and then the big guy beat up a thousand guys.

Teacher: Trevor, what did we say about overusing your words?

[McRory’s Pub]

Bartender (puts glasses on bar): Here you are.

Patron (taking glasses): Thanks, bro.

Emily: They fired that C.E.O. They're prosecuting him for grand larceny and stealing company property.

Nate: Wow. I didn't know anything about that.

Emily: Thank you.

Nate: What's, uh...

Emily (holds up bag of potato slice in water): Oh. It sprouts faster this way. Bye. (walks out)

Sophie: Nice work in the vault.

Nate: I was living in the moment. Um, punching Hardison, that was, uh, inspired. Yeah.

Sophie: Yeah.

Nate: Work of a mastermind.

(Sophie looks at Nate and smiles)

Nate: What?

Sophie: What?

Nate: Now, come on. Don't, I can't...

Sophie: What, do this?

Nate: No, I just, it's...

Sophie: You can't do this? Really?

Nate: Well, it's...

Sophie: A former Jesuit seminary student doesn't know if he can handle a casual relationship.

Nate: No, it's...

Sophie: What a shocker.

Nate: No, it's just, I mean, this, um, just... what, what do we, uh, do?

Sophie: I say, dinner.

Nate: Just a, just a bite to eat.

Sophie: As colleagues.

Nate: As friends.

Sophie: Exactly.

(Nate and Sophie exit the pub together, leaving Nate’s phone on the bar, ringing)

[Leverage HQ]

Hardison: Nate, I don't know where you are or what you're doing, but we need to talk now.

Reporter (on TV): While C.E.O. Colin Saunders is out facing criminal charges, Chief of Operations Jana West has been cleared of all wrongdoing and appointed interim C.E.O. of that division.
